At the age of 27, I was diagnosed with what was labeled a “pre-existing condition,” living with chronic pain, owed $25k in medical bills, and was in danger of reaching my lifetime maximum coverage because the Affordable Care Act had not yet been passed. My insurance plan also would not cover the specialist that I needed and I was forced to remain with a doctor who over-prescribed opioid painkillers instead of treating the problem.
When I discovered that Robyn’s predecessor accepted donations from the pharmaceutical company that manufactured the opioid I was prescribed, among other special interests, I knew that I didn’t have a representative who was working for the interest of the people. I vote for affordable and accessible healthcare for all. – Sarah
